Celebrating Mozart's 250th Birthday - January 27, 2006
What better way to have celebrated Mozart's 250th birthday than to assemble the best woodwind players in town for a performance of Mozart's Serenade in Bb, K. 361, known as the "Gran Partita." That is exactly what the Boston Woodwind Society did on January 27, 2006, the 250th anniversary, to the day, of Mozart's birth. The performance, attended by an overflow and ebullient crowd, took place in Pickman Hall at Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The BWS Mozart Festival Ensemble was conducted by David Hoose.
Dear Boston Woodwind Society,
Many thanks for giving me such a beautiful 250th birthday present! You all played so beautifully I'm sorry I didn't write a few more movements for you. Maybe next time . . .
With my best wishes to you all,
